This Duke-Margolis study draws on focus groups and interviews with North Carolina Medicaid members and community organizations to document what beneficiaries actually experience — bureaucratic barriers, unmet social needs, stigma, and fragmented care. Grounded in communities across the state, it offers NC-specific evidence that funders and advocates can point to as major Medicaid cuts loom and states face pressure to reform without losing sight of the people most affected.
